ALL HAIL THE KING
This work is very personal to me. Suffice to say, the lion represents someone very close to me, and their pain hurts me too.
WAZOWSKIA portrait of my sister, in a Mike Wazowski onesie because she expressed to me her desire for one. She was 20 at the time. As for the Billy Crystals on the wall, well not only is he Wazowski's voice actor, me and my sister have a similar sense of humour, and this fits it perfectly - sitting in a shrine to random 90s comedians.

Rise of the witch
An almost-self portrait, or idealized self, magically manipulating the star signs while dressed oh so goth chic.

the caliente sistersThe Sims 2 is very close to being my favourite and most-used videogame of all time. And part of that is the iconic characters that I spent so much time with. Nina and Dina Caliente were infamous in Pleasantview for being hungry for money and men - and it was so enjoyable to see the lengths they'd go to to acquire each.

Le artisteThis is my tribute to David Bowie, who is undoubtably one of the most influencial music artists of all time. Honestly, 'Life on Mars' will pretty much punch me in the heart every time I hear it.
I was in awe of his ability to step into and out of different personas, each one giving him a new emotional playing field, a new sound. That's what I want to be, if/when I ever become a musician. I likened this ability to create personalities out of seemingly nothing to a sculptor working with clay. Additionally, I love the concept of looking at and making changes to the self, it's an introverts favourite pass-time. So this concept piece was born. |
vanhi in the hyacinth
This is a portrait of my OC Vanhi Cherurapa. I drew it with the intent to use as a sample for commission work.
Hyacinth was chosen as a flower to represent this character because it stands for sincerity, and one of her traits is her stark honesty.
This was one of the few times I've ever stringently timed myself as I created art. I'll share those times with you (including small breaks)
Pencil sketch: 1 hour 15 minutes
Hand inked: 2 hours 20 minutes
Flat colours: 3 hours 40 minutes
Detailed: 4 hours 20 minutes

february feeling like octoberFeaturing my OC Jade 'Impure' Kendall. I guess I was feeling kinda bleak at the time if I wanted to draw a noose. But it's whimsical and circus-y at the same time.

snapsTwin OCs Elizabeth and Bridget Henderson. It's funny because Liz was created for a Glee fanfiction (which thankfully was never finished), while Bridget was for a Battlestar Galactica fanfiction (also unfinished but I'm slightly more proud of it). In fact, Bridget was called Lacey. And then I put Lacey into the Glee fic, before she underwent personality surgery and became a separate entity.
Behind them is the world, each side expressed as they live it. For Elizabeth, it's normal. For Bridget... it's dead. |
nyarinaThis was a drawing for Naya-Desily's competition (link: naya-desily.deviantart.com/jou…) to draw her new Xynthii (a race of creature which, among other things, has this unique toothed eye). It's nameless, so I came up with the potential name of Nyarina.
I really like how this turned out, it feels very cohesive and the shading on the hair especially is pretty good. |
spaghetti beautyThere was a competition hosted by a member of DeviantArt to do a pixel art relating to the game Undertale. I'd just watched the Game Grumps stream of the fantastic game, so I was eager to enter. This is Papyrus, with his favourite food - spaghetti - in a wig-like formation. Yes it's nonsensical, but I'm just glad I was able to animate it!
Also the competition was prematurely aborted so I don't know who, if anyone, won. |
